The need to address mental health issues without shame is paramount. We all experience pressure and stress that accumulate throughout our lives. Without proper guidance and skill-building to develop tools for the regulation of that stress, we are left feeling scared, unprepared and out of control. It is long overdue that we understand and accept that stress and trauma are a part of many people’s lives and that help is needed in order to prevent unnecessary suffering and loss. We must eliminate judgment, punishment and shame when we recognize that trauma has occurred. Such sentiments have no place in our healing, only in our demise. Now is the time for us to come together in love and support and connection so we can be part of the healing of our own lives, our families, and our communities.
